Happy Monday!

So...

if my internet provider had a face, I'd punch it.

Due to major technical difficulties, we won't be able to post our regularly scheduled Hit or Miss post this morning!

Hopefully we are back to normal tomorrow...enjoy your Monday!

Strawberry Honey Jam Goodness

Strawberry season is here! Can I get a hip hip hooray?? I love strawberry season, it's really the only time of year that I like fresh strawberries. I could spend an entire post telling you about how  strawberries from the store don't compare to strawberries from the field. I already told you all about the need for Strawberry Shortcake in this house since we had so many berries from the Strawberry Festival.  Despite the cold, overcast weather - the festival and strawberries were SO good.

Sock Saver Tip

Sometimes a little Pinterest perusing brings a "duh" moment for me.  Hopefully it does for you too, and if not - just go with it so I won't feel like a loser.

Transforming Some Nasty Hardware

For some reason about a week after Quinn was born I decided that it was the perfect time to tackle a dresser redo that I've been wanting to do for about a year. Why you ask? Because I am obviously crazy - haven't you picked up on that yet?? The dresser is completely solid wood and was old and dirty, really dirty. After wiping the entire dresser down so that we could deal with painting, it became SUPER clear that we needed to deal with the hardware.

Honey Wheat Soft Pretzels

I have a couple pregnant friends who have been obsessed with soft pretzels.  They talk about them constantly - and while it's not a craving I am having, I decided I needed to satisfy it anyway.  That's the thing about pregnancy - you can rationalize all kinds of odd behavior.

Hit or Miss Monday

Happy {belated} Mother's Day to all you Mommies out there - hope it was a special day!  I'm ending Mother's Day with some relaxation so this post is going to be short, sweet & to the point!

Jamie's Hit...

Unwanted Ants ... FAIL

Well friends I have some bad news. We have ants. Lots of ants. I hate hate hate hate bugs... I'm not sure you can even understand how much I hate them. There is nothing worse than looking at your kitchen floor and seeing ants. It's so gross. I decided to spare you the pictures of the ants because really, who wants to look at ants in someone house??

Due to this nastiness I've been searching for ways to rid the house of these gross little black specks that didn't involve a bunch of chemicals. Macie doesn't leave anything alone so I don't love the idea of those little ant houses all over the place. After doing some searching on Pinterest I found few different sites that suggested hot water and vinegar to rid the house of these ants. Lucky for me I had both... or it would have been lucky if it had worked.

I mixed up some vinegar and water and stuck it in a spray bottle and sprayed away. It did nothing. I thought maybe I needed to do more so I mixed up another batch and actually washed down the kitchen floor with it  (vinegar is a good cleaner so what's the harm??) as well as the kitchen counters. Those dang ants couldn't have cared less. I might as well have wiped the floor with sugar, they were all over it.  Why am I telling you this?? TO WARN YOU! Don't waste your time with the vinegar - it does a lot of things, but deter ants is not one of them. As a side note, I also tried some cinnamon and to be fair, the ants hated the cinnamon and walked around it but unless I have plans to cover my entire house in spices, it's not a good solution to me.

All in all, this is a big fat fail. I'm back to square one with the ants. Allen did decide to spray some stuff on the outside of the house so we'll see how that goes. Hopefully they will be gone like the wind but does anyone know of any other ant remedies out there?? I'm ready to try another one!
