Jewelry Holder from Mug Tree

So...I think we've established by now 2 things about me: One - I am girly and like girly things.  Two - I love the color aqua.

I love jewelry and I love lots of it.  Hey, I'm cheap and I buy cheap jewelry which means I can have a fun little collection going.

You might remember me talking about Jamie and I hitting up some yard sales this past weekend - we took a grey morning and left the kids with our husbands and met up for some fun.  We didn't find as much as we were hoping to find, but we DID stumble across an odd little estate sale in a random section of town.  This was my very first estate sale and it was definitely an interesting (er....semi creepy?) experience.  We wandered through a home with a bunch of strangers pawing through piles of stuff that once belonged to someone who is now...well, you know.

By the time we got there, they were marking everything half off so I put aside the creepy factor and found a few items I thought I could put to use.  One thing I stumbled across was this old mug tree.

It was $5, marked down 50% off - how could I say no?  I totally recalled in the back of mind pinning this project from the Mod Podge Rocks blog, by way of Madigan Made.

So right now in my bathroom, I've commandeered an old dresser to store makeup and hair stuff, and it gives me a perfect place to put my jewelry - right on top.  I totally have one of those lame old lady type jewelry boxes which DOES have a necklace holder thing, but I'm pretty sure it was made for the world's shortest necklaces.  It doesn't hold my long ones, and I sure can't fit bracelets in it.

I knew the mug holder turned necklace and bracelet holder would be the perfect addition so I got to work spray painting it my fave color.

I added orange accents just for fun - and used a fun new silkscreen technique for a design on the bottom - we'll tell you all about those at a later date.  They are super cool and we have a fun tutorial to share.

I love how this turned out - I love the fun pop of color it brings into my bathroom and I love that I can hold longer necklaces and bracelets on it!

What do you think?  What's your favorite way to store jewelry?

{NOTE: I did not - I REPEAT - I did not make the adorable earring holder above the dresser.  I found that at a little consignment store - staring at me, begging me to bring it home and use it for earrings...}
