Valentine's Day Apothecary Jars

So - I'm not a huge Valentine's Day fan or anything.  I think it's kind of weird holiday, but whatever.  I'm trying not to let my own weird hang ups get in the way of pretty decorating ideas.  And there are some really fun and pretty ideas out there to help you celebrate Valentine's Day.

This is a really simple project - the hardest part is waiting for the paint to dry, which seemed to take an ETERNITY but I'm not the world's most patient person so who knows.

Here are the supplies you'll need:

- wooden candlesticks
- round wooden discs (or squares, whatever your heart desires!)
- wooden dowels/knobs for the top of your jars
- mason jars or other glass jar with lid
- strong glue - I used E-6000
- craft paint
- ribbon
- candy!

I don't plan to use a whole lot of technical terms in this tutorial because I am not technical but this is easy and I promise you can do it with no problems.

Start by painting all of the wooden pieces, and the lids to your jars.  When those are painted and dried, you'll use glue to adhere the wooden disc to the candlestick, and the knob or wooden dowel to the top of the lid.  Glue your jar to the top of the candlestick.  Let dry.  Fill with candy, decorate.  Enjoy.

See?

Easy!

And so cute.

Have you ever made your own apothecary jars?  I would like to try a few to hold bathroom items - cotton balls, q tips, etc.  So cute!
