DIY Makeup Brush Box

This weekend I finally felt determined to organize our bathroom.  Or, at least - my side of it.  Since we moved in, I haven't taken the time to really figure out where I want things to go and it was starting to get on my nerves.  I felt like I could never find anything!

So off to Target I went in search of some organizational products to help a sista out.  I threw a bunch of stuff in my cart and when I got home, I got to work.  I went through all my makeup and hair products and threw a bunch of stuff out.  I organized it all by stuff for eyes, face, cheeks, lips.  It looks lovely.  But I needed somewhere to store all of my make up brushes.  I have a nice roll up thing that holds each brush individually but I am nowhere near patient enough to put them all back in something like that every single day!

I remembered that I pinned a makeup brush box recently and couldn't wait to get started.

I found it over at Smart School House.  She has way swankier brushes than I do.

I didn't follow her tutorial exactly because she used vinyl to cover her box and I didn't want to buy any.  I have a ton of scrapbook paper so I figured I'd just find some at home that I liked and Mod Podge it on!

Here's what you'll need:

- wooden box (Michaels, Hobby Lobby, AC Moore, etc...)
- scrapbook paper
- Mod Podge
- ribbon for embellishment
- rice (yes, rice!)
- scissors

Basically, I cut my scrapbook paper to size by tracing one side of the box onto the paper.  Then I spread a thin layer of Mod Podge on each side, and covered up with the square of paper.  After all 4 sides were covered and dried, I spread another thin layer on top of the paper.  Watch for creasing and bubbling!  I used the gloss Mod Podge so it has a really pretty sheen to it.

Once the box was dry, I added some brown ribbon to the top for a little added embellishment.

Then you'll fill with rice.  The rice helps to keep your brushes standing up right.  Sweet!

And that's it!  Fill with your brushes and feel organized and accomplished.

Got any good organizational tips for me?
