I am a mom of 2 young boys and I used to be a chemical engineer. I now spend my time playing trains, building forts and getting my hands dirty in DIY projects and crafts! I love to share my projects on my blog as well as moments our our life! My door is always open and I LOVE making new friends so please stop over sometime and say hello! {I may or may not have a Silhouette Portrait Giveaway going on right now!} <<----Not even joking! I am so happy to be spending the day with you over here at The Pinterest Project. Miranda and Jamie are two of my favorite people that I never met! It’s funny how the internet works! Let’s talk water shall we? I don’t know about you but I always start to freak out right about now because you know what’s coming up?? {whispering} Swimsuit Season. Shhh…don’t say it too loudly! The first thing that always pops in my mind is that I do not drink enough water through out the day. Are you a water drinker? Some people are and some aren’t. I am NOT a water drinker! I mean yeah sure, after the gym or on a 130 degree day, water is fabulous but for every other occasion…I tend to choose something with flavor. I need my drink to taste like something. I drink a lot of coffee and iced tea throughout the day and would love to cut some caffeine from my beverages, without substituting in sugary, empty calorie drinks. So I did a bit of research and some trial and error and discovered this awesome, natural way to flavor my water! {and it has health benefits also! Score, multi-tasking!}

Lemon Cucumber Mint

Yes, it’s exactly what it says: Lemon Cucumber Mint Detox Water! So not only does it taste delicious but it also has added benefits: Benefits of Lemons: 1. Lemons are rich in vitamin C and flavonoids that work against infections like the flu and colds. 2. Your liver loves lemons: “The lemon is a wonderful stimulant to the liver and is a dissolvent of uric acid and other poisons, liquefies the bile,” says Jethro Kloss in his book Back to Eden. Fresh lemon juice added to a large glass of water in the morning is a great liver detoxifier. 3. The citric acid in lemon juice helps to dissolve gallstones, calcium deposits, and kidney stones. 4. Vitamin C in lemons helps to neutralize free radicals linked to aging and most types of disease. 5. Lemons have powerful antibacterial properties; experiments have found the juice of lemons destroy the bacteria of malaria, cholera, diphtheria, typhoid and other deadly diseases. Benefits of Cucumbers: 1.Quick pick me-up - Cucumbers are a good source of B vitamins. Put down your sodas and coffee and eat a cucumber slice << I should follow my own advice more! 2. Fight cancers - Cucumber are known to contain lariciresinol, pinoresinol, and secoisolariciresinol. These three lignans have a strong history of research in connection with reduced risk of several cancer types, including breast cancer, ovarian cancer, uterine cancer and prostate cancer. 3. Relieves bad breath - Take a slice of cucumber and press it to the roof of your mouth with your tongue for 30 seconds, the phytochemicals will kill the bacteria in your mouth responsible for causing bad breath. 4. Hangover cure - To avoid a morning hangover or headache; eat a few cucumber slices before going to bed. Cucumbers contain enough sugar, B vitamins and electrolytes to replenish many essential nutrients, reducing the intensity of both hangover and headache. 5. Control Blood Pressure - Cucumber juice contains a lot of potassium, magnesium and fiber that work effectively for regulating blood pressure. This makes cucumber good for treating both low blood pressure and high blood pressure. Benefits of Mint: 1. Sooths the digestive tract and if you are having stomach ache then it can be of great help 2. Mint helps in eliminating toxins from the body. 3. Crushed mint leaves helps in whitening teeth and combat bad breath. 4. Mint is a very good cleanser for the blood. 5. Mint can help relax your mind. {who doesn’t need some help with this?!?} Here are the proportions I use for the water. You can adjust as you like!

  • 2 quarts bottled or purified water.
  • Half a large English cucumber, sliced {the ones that are wrapped in plastic wrap = no wax!}
  • 2 medium lemons, sliced
  • 10-15 mint leaves

Combine all ingredients and let steep overnight in the refrigerator. Enjoy over ice!   So the next time you need some flavor in your drink, put down the soft drink and pick up a glass of cucumber lemon mint water! Your body will thank you! Thanks so much to Miranda and Jamie for having me over today! I’d love it if you stopped over and said hello! I recently shared my video tutorial on how to make fabric flowers and also an awesome crock pot buffalo chicken dip recipe!
