Are you ready for Christmas?? It's almost here!! I can't believe it. I'm pretty sure I said the same thing last week, but seriously people - IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS! I feel like we are in the midst of a whirlwind of holiday happenings right now. I'm also fairly positive that I have baked at least my weight in cookies, which in turn has resulted in my weight increasing. This is the time of the year that everyone has a party and you have to bring something to every party and for whatever reason, I ended up with cookies to more than one affair… and let's not forget the big fat man in the long white beard that's coming to town. He requires some cookies too.
This year I decided to branch out and make a few different kinds of cookies. I went on Facebook and asked for favorites and suggestions and then I hit Pinterest for some recipes. One cookie that caught my eye was the trusty Gingerbread Man. Macie had decided that we HAD to make them so I went searching for a recipe. I came across one on Shnuggle Bunny's Blog -- I swear that's the real name -- and decided to give it a whirl.
Besides adding some nutmeg to the recipe, I didn't change one thing. The dough was easy to make and the icing was equally as easy. I looked up a few royal icings and came to the conclusion that all were variations on the same recipe so I went with the one that Shnuggle Bunny had. These even smell great while they are baking. They made my house smell like Christmas - all I needed was some snow.
These little men came with me to the office Christmas party and were a huge hit. They all found adoring women that were willing to devour them. I even had a few people come into my office asking me for the recipe.
You should try them. Make some little men (and women) of your own. I think Santa will be extra nice to us since these are extra good…. isn't that how it works??
