Hit or Miss Monday Returns!

Are you ready for Monday?? Me either. I'm sure some of you are freezing and buried in snow. We are just cold. Really cold. Okay, so really cold for us. Anyway, let me get on with the hit or miss so that I can get back to being curled up under my blanket. I'm losing the thermostat war in the house so I always have a blanket!!

First up, Miranda's Hit:

I mean...who among us didn't think this exact thing?? Why DIDN'T Rose move over and make room for her beloved?? How selfish do you have to be to not MOVE THE FLIP OVER?

And my Hit:

Okay I saw this and cracked up. If you run, good for you. If you run races, even better. Seriously though, how does it ALWAYS come up in conversation?? Let me give you an example:
"Hey, let's grab dinner, where should we go?"
"Oh, it doesn't matter. I'm starving. I ran today."
"okay, how about...{rudely interrupted}"
"yeah, I had to get my training run in for my next marathon."
hmmm.

And now for Miranda's Miss:

I think it's fantastic when people take an active approach to caring for pets. I mean, most pets needs to get physical activity. But...this is a bit much. I would laugh if I saw it on the street though.

Lastly, my Miss:

This is my miss basically because I hate myself every time I do this. I'm losing good take out places left and right! Another shining moment, when someone says "come back soon" and I respond on auto-moron with "you too!" I'm hanging my head in shame.

Have you found any good pins this week?

2014… The Word is Slack.

my crazy girls...

Well friends, it's a new year and with a new year comes a new blog post. Buckle up. There isn't a pin attached to this post - yeah I know, I'm getting crazy!!

I'm going to be flat out honest with you, life is kicking my butt right now. It's sort of kicking Miranda's too. We don't write a lot about the nitty gritty of our lives on here because well, who wants to read about that? Do you really want to know that in my real life I have a real job (besides the VERY real job of being a mom)? Do you really want to know that they have sort of doubled my work load? Do you want to know that Declan has crazy colic and Miranda can't put him down without him breaking out into hysterics? Do you want to know that Quinn has decided that sleeping is completely optional and pretty much unnecessary for her parents? Do you want to know that we truly believe that Macie and Beckett plot against us during the few playdates we can manage these days? It's true. Our kids are out to get us. I swear! I could go on and on, but really - you don't need to hear it all and we know that every family (especially with plotting toddlers) have their own drama, we aren't special.

she looks innocent...

We started this little adventure in 2011. Wow. Writing that seems crazy to me. In that time our readers have ebbed and flowed, we have had amazing posts, dreadful posts and posts we thought were amazing and you… didn't. As I'm word vomiting on this page, I know this sounds like we're breaking up with you -- we aren't. We are just living life. Sometimes life means that projects don't get done. I have an entire house of projects that I am DYING to tackle, but I also have two little girls, a husband, a job, laundry, errands, a house that needs to be cleaned (every once in awhile) and the list goes on. So my fun project list sometimes has to sit. It sucks, because let's be honest, it's way more fun to paint stripes in a bathroom than it is to clean the bathroom. Can I get an amen??

I guess what I'm asking for 2014 is this - can you cut us a little slack? Slack for when a post goes up late, we forget hit or miss or we throw an archived post up because the kids are need attention and love, the house is a mess, life is chaos or one of us finally had to be committed to the psych ward… I kid… maybe.

Of course if one of you is a professional organizer and would like to come to my house and help me re-group, I can get right back on track… just throwing it out there!!

And so you know I'm not completely falling down on the job - I'll give you a preview of my list:

Flour Sack Kitchen Towels
Striping the girls bathroom
Kitchen chair Makeover
Kid's Craft Corner
Playroom Makeover
Window Pin Board
Cage Light
Barn wood Table

… and the list goes on and on and on. I know Miranda has a list just as long as mine but I'll let her tell you about it sometime. So what's your list for 2014? Fun things? Exciting things? Big projects? Small tasks? I want to hear your list too… it'll make me feel better about mine!

and yes, I threw cute pictures of my kids in here for no good reason… I'm sneaky like that.

New Year, New Soup!

Wishing you all the very best for 2014!

If you've been a reader for awhile, you might know that I kick off January with a sugar detox or clean eating.  This year is no different and with all the baby weight I have left to lose, I actually started the day after Christmas.  So I've had about a week jumpstart on the rest of the world and I'm SUPER excited to have been given a copy of the 21 Day Sugar Detox cookbook to review.  I've already made several recipes and can't wait to share with you.

Today though?  Today is a soup day.  This is definitely a sugar detox friendly recipe, and is so yummy - tastes like it should be full of cream but it isn't.  It's healthy and filling and a great way to get some veggies.

Enjoy this recipe for Roasted Cauliflower and Cheddar Soup and join me on the 21 Day Sugar Detox!

This recipe comes from Two Peas and their Pod.  Hop on over to their blog for the deliciousness.

Merry Christmas!

Enjoy your holiday!  We are taking time off to snuggle little ones, bake cookies and finish last minute shopping.

Little Gingerbread Men

Are you ready for Christmas?? It's almost here!! I can't believe it. I'm pretty sure I said the same thing last week, but seriously people - IT'S ALMOST CHRISTMAS! I feel like we are in the midst of a whirlwind of holiday happenings right now. I'm also fairly positive that I have baked at least my weight in cookies, which in turn has resulted in my weight increasing. This is the time of the year that everyone has a party and you have to bring something to every party and for whatever reason, I ended up with cookies to more than one affair… and let's not forget the big fat man in the long white beard that's coming to town. He requires some cookies too.

Guys, I swear I'm going to try really hard to get back in the game here really soon, but Declan has had a good ol' fashioned case of colic and it's been kicking my butt.  He turns TWO MONTHS OLD today and seems to be (knock on wood) turning a corner.  But for now, thanks for being patient with the archived posts!!  And humor me by oohing and aahing over my little men.  I am so lucky to have a photographer for a brother in law.

Ok, enough about me.  Onto an easy way to make stockings!

Hit or Miss Monday

Happy Monday friends!  If you're like me you're going to grab yourself a cup o' coffee the size of your head and sit down to have a chuckle.

Come on!

Jingle All the Way… A Burlap Sign

Happy Friday friends!!! Are you feeling the insanity of the holidays yet? I'm in denial that we are into the 12 days before Christmas. TWELVE DAYS PEOPLE! This is crunch time - I need to get serious. Macie and I baked some cookies, I'm trying to work up the courage to do gingerbread houses -- it seems daunting.

From the Archives: Chocolate Peppermint Fudge

Don't let fudge scare you this holiday season - this is an easy and delicious recipe.

Enjoy!

You know how I love pumpkin in the fall?  Well in the winter I love peppermint.  Peppermint cookies, peppermint mochas, peppermint fudge.

Oh who am I kidding, if it has sugar in it, I'll take it.

It's a fun time of year for us because we generally don't do much if any white sugar or flour for the rest of the year.  Truthfully, I was out of a lot of baking ingredients as I started my holiday baking this year and had to call in reinforcements from Jamie in the form of pleading text messages, "Will you please let me borrow xyz???"

Hit or Miss… finally!

It's Monday. It's dreary and cold here. Both Miranda and I have had a fun filled morning (heh) and did I mention that it's dreary and cold?? I'm telling you all of this as my lame excuse for why the precious Hit or Miss post is late. Sorry!!

Without further ado here is Miranda's Hit:

I find this hilarious.  I wish I thought this quick on my feet because I would have made my husband do it after we had our son Declan 2 months ago.  I love creative, sarcastic stuff like this, what can I say??

And her Miss:

I'm sure back in the day this wasn't SUCH a big Miss.  Ok, I'm hoping it wasn't because I rocked a Jem and the Holograms pink SWEATSHIRT for picture day one year.  Complete with matching pepto bismal pink plastic earrings and femullet.  But looking back that outfit was as much a Miss as this one is.  And come on, at least Jem was cool ;)  Were trolls ever cool??

And my Hit:

I love this. I'm pretty sure that Miranda and I love this enough that we both pinned it unknowingly! There are few pleasures in life that are as sweet as a perfect latte that you can drink at your leisure while shopping WITHOUT helpers. Ahhhhhhh.

And my Miss:

No, I didn't pin this because I secretly hate all of you fit runners out there while I can't seem to get my act together. I pinned this because in my sleep deprived state it made me laugh and yet grossed me out at the same time. Yes, I am sure that this is some photoshoppers handy work, but still what if it's not? Still Eww.

Happy Pinning!!
